Kids have fun on the beaches of Jekyll Island …counselors have fun keeping up with their kids... all while kids and counselors have a great time building relationships on this historic island. There are plenty of things to do on the island—from Millionaires Village to White Water Theme Park to horseback riding to championship golf and tennis to beach volleyball to ultimate Frisbee to sand sculpting to searching for hidden treasure on the island.  This will be a great week for kids and counselors to build relationships for eternity on the beaches of Jekyll Island. Our conference is focused on counselors spending time with their kids and kids being introduced to a relationship with Jesus Christ.  The morning and evening jam sessions are held at the Convention Center.  Kids will experience small groups, seminars, worship and teaching that will challenge them to go deeper in their faith.  The reason students have kept coming back to Jekyll Island for the past 30 years is simple—they experience, first hand, the love of Jesus Christ!

Arrival and Departure
The conference begins Sunday afternoon with registration and is over late Thursday night following the final evening program.  Housing is provided Thursday night, however, no breakfast will be served Friday morning and you will need to check out of your hotel by 8:00 AM.

Housing
All of the groups coming to Fun in the Son will be housed in various hotels along the beach. You will not know specifically where your group will be housed or how many students will be in a room until you arrive at camp.  Please know that we do try to maximize room space in order to keep trip costs low for your students.  Please plan for one in every five students to sleep on the floor!  **Please note: the hotels are one mile from where the morning and evening programs are held – we encourage you to have transportation for your group for the duration of the week.**

Housing Assignment
In response to feedback from you, FITS Jekyll housing is now assigned in order of your registration date.  We cannot know at this time the number of folks who will be at this year's conference, but we can tell you that the earlier you register the greater chance you’ll be housed at the main conference hotel. Register early!

Food
Breakfast, lunch and dinner are all provided as part of your conference cost.  We will feed you beginning with dinner on Sunday night through dinner on Thursday.  The YCM office strongly suggests that students bring snacks for the week!  In our experience, high school students are often hungry...not to mention they might not love what is being served.  They'll be happy if they have snacks!

Daily schedule

  • Mornings include time for quiet times, breakfast, the morning session and seminars.
  • After lunch you will have freetime to relax and enjoy the beach.  A variety of recreation activities and tournaments will be organized for each afternoon.
  • The evening schedule will include dinner, a counselor meeting, the evening session, family time (with your church family), and finally lights out.

Things to Bring
In addition to cool, casual clothes, there are a few specifics things you’ll want to have with you.

  • Everyone in your group should bring towels for both bathing and the beach (towels will not be provided by the hotels)!
  • You’ll need all your beach gear: sandals, modest swim suits, sunscreen, frisbees, etc.
  • Don’t forget a Bible, pen, and notebook.
  • You might want a sweatshirt or long-sleeve shirt for the big group meetings as the meeting rooms are usually cold!
  • Come prepared for afternoon recreation with tennis shoes, tennis rackets and balls, footballs, i.e.
  • Important: Please make sure your group has one sleeping bag for every fifth person in the group.
  • Finally, students will want to bring spending money for snacks, Fun In The Son t-shirts, CDs, books and other items available to purchase.
What else do I need to know?
  • There should be one adult for every six youth you bring. There should be male counselors for male campers and female counselors for female campers.
  • Each student coming to Jekyll Island will need to complete a YCM medical form available here. Please bring two copies of each medical form with you – one for you to hang on to and one to turn in to our staff when you register Sunday evening.

Kids have fun on the beaches …counselors have fun keeping up with their kids...all while kids and counselors have a great time building relationships on this popular South Carolina beach. There are plenty of things to do — from water theme parks to championship golf and tennis to beach volleyball to ultimate Frisbee to sand sculpting to searching for hidden treasure around the conference facility.  This will be a great week for kids and counselors to build relationships for eternity right there on the beach. Our conference is focused on counselors spending time with their kids and kids being introduced to a relationship with Jesus Christ.  There will be morning and evening jam sessions where kids will experience small groups, seminars, worship and teaching that will challenge them to go deeper in their faith.  The reason we wanted to expand Fun in the Son to this exciting new location is because we believe kids will experience here, first hand, the love of Jesus Christ!

Arrival and Departure
The conference begins Sunday afternoon with registration and is over Thursday morning. (Please note this is different from other FITS venues.)

Housing
All of the groups coming to Fun in the Son will be housed in deluxe rooms at the beautiful Crown Reef Resort. Each room will sleep six to eight people and has its own kitchenette.

Food
Lunch and dinner are provided as part of your conference cost.  We will feed you beginning with dinner on Sunday night through dinner on Wednesday, however dinner one evening will be up to you, as you have the opportunity to explore Myrtle Beach with your group. Each room has a small kitchen, so breakfasts will be on your own – we think you will enjoy sharing this meal with your group in the comfort of your own room. We suggest that students bring snacks for the week because in our experience, high school students are often hungry...they'll be happy if they have snacks!

The setting for Fun in the Son Padre could not get any better.  At FITS Padre you will be at the Bahia Mar Hotel or the Travelodge, which are both located on the Gulf of Mexico in South Padre Island.  You will spend your afternoons enjoying the surf and sand of the beach.  Your morning and evenings will be spent at the South Padre Island Convention center, within walking distance from both hotels, hearing from speakers and worship bands that will challenge and inspire them.  There is one afternoon where you can take your group and explore South Padre Island or even venture over the border to Mexico. The hope is that this will be a week of fun where students can hear the Gospel, grow in their faith and experience the larger body of Christ.

Arrival and Departure
